Company History

In 1978, Paul Guignon started The Envelope Man as a broker, and in November of 1980 he purchased his first high quality, Litho 2 Color envelope printing press. It was at this point he saw an opportunity to market an envelope company as a fast turnaround, litho quality envelope provider. In those days getting an envelope order produced took 4 to 6 weeks and more. The Envelope Man offered deliveries in one or two weeks. Paul joined the Kansas City Direct Marketing Association and other local advertising clubs in order to get the word out. Soon The Envelope Man was providing custom litho envelope orders for firms not only in Kansas City, but across the country. Paul advertised in print related journals and has always had the premium yellow page ads. By 1988 the company was running 5 hi-speed two colors and purchased the first four color envelope press in the Kansas City Area. By 1994 The Envelope Man installed a second 4 Color envelope press that specializes in heavier coverage orders. This press runs UV inks which makes quick turn orders even faster. In 1995 our clients in Kansas City needed envelopes with special “quick seal” flaps. Paul added two “Latex/Peel n Seal” gumming machines. In 2004 a short run flat sheet department was added followed by a new digital Direct To Plate pre-press department. In 2006 a 4 Color web press came on board. This completed Paul’s strategy for promoting “Envelope Man Plus and What’s Inside”.

Back in 1978 The Envelope Man marketed themselves as the fastest provider in the envelope industry. In 28 years since, much has changed. A quick turn job is measured in days, not weeks; often in hours! What hasn’t changed is this: “ Envelope Man Plus gives the customer the flexibility to produce the highest quality at a reasonable rate & the fastest time.”
